On December 22, I went out and waited for the sunrise. It took time for the earth to rotate far enough to begin seeing the golden orb behind the far-off trees. Then, I could watch, actually see, the very incremental but advancing Light through the branches. I was amazed that I could see the earth’s rotation and the “ascending” of the Light. I was also astonished to read that there were approximately 130 of us involved in the Cowboy’s Christmas Parade. All of us wanted to bring some Light into the darkness. We wanted to show some old-fashioned, Cowboy Christmas cheer to those in the Lodge, those waving along the streets and those who drove by on the Highway. I believe that we did a great job of spreading warmth and good cheer. Each of us can choose to be Light to those around us. We can contribute to the Salvation Army, buy a gift for a child in need, go caroling, visiting elders, calling friends we know have had losses during the year, organize a party or dinner and invite those who would otherwise spend the day alone. We can serve as a reminder that, although each of us, individually, are as vulnerable as a baby, together we can bring love, peace and light to this weary world. YOU can be a Light in the darkness. Make the world shine! As we approach the end of 2023, let us carry the lessons learned and the blessings received into the future.
